7月17日，中國網(wǎng)民再次發(fā)布公開信并委托媒體發(fā)起聯(lián)署倡議，希望更多人向世衛(wèi)組織發(fā)出呼吁，在下階段的新冠病毒溯源工作中對(duì)德特里克堡以及其他存在泄漏隱患的美國病毒實(shí)驗(yàn)室進(jìn)行調(diào)查。

對(duì)此，趙立堅(jiān)在19日外交部例行記者會(huì)上表示，“這些民眾、媒體自發(fā)的行動(dòng)，實(shí)際是問出了國際社會(huì)長(zhǎng)期無法得到回答的問題，而美方一些人始終諱莫如深。” 之后，趙立堅(jiān)請(qǐng)美方回答：“美方為何至今還不邀請(qǐng)世衛(wèi)組織赴美徹查德堡？在溯源問題上，中國去得，美國為什么去不得？（Why hasn't the US invited the WHO in for an investigation into Fort Detrick? Why can't origins study be conducted in the US just as in China?）”

Any attempt to peddle intelligence-led origin-tracing in disregard of science and truth, and coerce experts and scholars in pursuit of one's selfish interests will only disrupt global anti-epidemic cooperation, meet with strong opposition from the international community, and lead to nowhere.
