U.S. President Joe Biden intends to run for re-election in 2024, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters on Monday.

"He is. That's his intention," Psaki said as Biden flew aboard Air Force One for a Thanksgiving event with U.S. troops in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Biden received his first physical examination last Friday since taking office in January，which found the president to be “healthy,” “vigorous” and working out five days a week. His doctor described a stiffer walking gait in recent years, which he attributed to spinal arthritis, and some acid reflux that has caused him to repeatedly clear his throat.

《國會山報》稱，拜登曾在2020年的民主黨初選中表示，他認為自己是民主黨內(nèi)的過渡人物，是能夠擊敗時任總統(tǒng)特朗普的獨特人選。而特朗普有意參選2024年大選的前景，可能會促使拜登再次競選。  

Biden said during the 2020 Democratic primary he viewed himself as a transitional figure within the party, but one who was uniquely positioned to beat then-President Donald Trump. The prospect of Trump seeking reelection in 2024 could contribute to Biden's desire to run again.
