Later Tuesday, Trump's physician released a statement saying that the president hadn't had a stroke or a mini-stroke and that he hadn't experienced "any acute cardiovascular emergencies."

Questions of Trump's health have once again arisen this week, prompted by a new book from New York Times correspondent Michael Schmidt that reports Vice President Mike Pence was put on standby after the president’s unexpected trip to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center last year.

The White House said that the president was referring to a tweet by former Clinton administration White House press secretary Joe Lockhart, who tweeted on Monday.
