It started at the 38th parallel north. On June 25, 1950, the Korean War broke out between the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Within two days, the U.S. government ordered troops to invade the DPRK and sent its Seventh Fleet into China's Taiwan Straits. On July 7, the United States manipulated the United Nations (UN) Security Council to adopt a resolution on dispatching a UN force that it led to the Korean Peninsula. The U.S. ignored China's warning and sent its army pouring across the line on October 7 and pressing on towards the Sino-Korean border. On October 19, the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) crossed the Yalu River to fight together with the DPRK army. 

1950年10月25日，中國人民志愿軍打響了抗美援朝出國作戰(zhàn)的第一場(chǎng)戰(zhàn)役。中國人民志愿軍先后有290萬人次赴朝作戰(zhàn)。在兩年零九個(gè)月的浴血奮戰(zhàn)中，共有197653名烈士埋骨他鄉(xiāng)。他們當(dāng)中，有用胸膛堵機(jī)槍的黃繼光、引爆炸藥與敵人同歸于盡的楊根思，還有烈火焚身巋然不動(dòng)的邱少云……

On October 25, 1950, the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) army launched its first battle in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. To protect their motherland, a total of 2.9 million CPV soldiers entered the battlefield and 197,653 sacrificed their lives, according to the latest data. The medal also demonstrates China's firm determination and confidence in defying its enemies, safeguarding world peace, and building a community with a shared future for humanity.
