最近，一篇名為《我們的天才兒子》文章刷屏網(wǎng)絡(luò)，文中“天才”譯者金曉宇及其一家人的故事令萬千網(wǎng)友淚目。
An article published by Hangzhou Daily has touched millions of readers with the real-life story of "genius" translator Jin Xiaoyu and his father, Jin Xingyong.
去年，《杭州日報》編輯部接到了金曉宇父親、85歲的金性勇打來的電話，他請求：“你們能不能寫我兒子的故事？我兒子是天才，他現(xiàn)在在精神病院，他媽媽今天剛走了。”今年1月17日，《杭州日報》上刊登了他們的故事。
The story was published on Monday in the newspaper in Zhejiang province after the paper's editing team received a phone call from a funeral home. The 85-year-old father asked if the editors would publish his son's story. "My son is a genius. He is in a mental hospital and his mother just died today," he said.

“只要他活著”
故事由金性勇口述，詳細記錄了金曉宇的生活和他對抗精神疾病的點滴。童年的金曉宇在玩耍時眼睛受傷，從此一只眼睛失明。不久后，他又被診斷出患有躁狂抑郁癥，即雙相情感障礙，1992年起接受治療。
The story documented the life of Jin Xiaoyu, and his struggle against a mental disorder. Jin has been blind in one eye after an accident and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at a young age. To help control his condition, he has visited a mental hospital for treatment every year since 1992.

這樣的精神疾病，讓本來是尖子生的金曉宇沒能正常完成學(xué)業(yè)，他經(jīng)歷過厭學(xué)、退學(xué)，甚至一度輕生自盡。

后來，金性勇也讀過很多精神疾病的書籍，有兩點讓一個父親不至于崩潰：一是通常這類病人一兩次自殺未遂后很少再有這個念頭，他們會比之前珍惜生命；二是這類病人會在精神領(lǐng)域不同凡響，甚至表現(xiàn)出天才性的創(chuàng)造力。
在《躁狂抑郁多才俊》里，他了解到歷史上有些“天才” 終其一生都有雙相情感障礙的典型表現(xiàn)，承受了超出常人的痛苦。不過，金性勇卻沒想過兒子能成為天才：兒子不想死了，我和他媽忽然覺得什么都不重要了，不讀書不上大學(xué)不工作不成家，我們都能接受，只要他活著。

“我看完了圖書館里所有的外語小說。”
上世紀90年代，是金性勇家里的困難時期：到處治病要花錢，孩子出門闖禍要賠錢，但我還是竭盡所能滿足小宇的要求。他最大的要求就是買書——英語、日語、古文、圍棋、音樂、繪畫、地理等，各種書籍買了兩百多本。
金曉宇發(fā)病時會胡亂砸東西，但是金性勇還是在1993年冒著被砸壞的風險，花一萬兩千塊錢給小宇買了一臺聯(lián)想電腦。小宇那天高興地說，“爸爸，謝謝你！”金性勇說，之后，他發(fā)病時也摔過東西，但從不碰電腦。電腦成了兒子的另一個世界。他也不玩游戲，主要就做兩件事：自學(xué)外語、看原聲電影。他用了六年時間自學(xué)了德語、日語，鞏固英語?？赐庹Z電影，他先看帶中文字幕的，看懂后，做一個紙條擋住字幕再看。一部電影反復(fù)看N遍，直到完全聽懂。

In 1993, Jin's father bought a computer for him to try to improve his mental state and the machine quickly became Jin's world. He also began to learn foreign languages by watching foreign movies.
機會留給有準備的人，也許金性勇從來沒想過，金曉宇會有這樣的機遇。母親參加同學(xué)聚會時，一位留校做了教授的同學(xué)就問她：能不能請你兒子在家做翻譯？隨后，南大出版社寄來了美國女作家安德烈婭•巴雷特的八個短篇小說，讓金曉宇試著翻譯。
Some friends of his mother's who worked at Nanjing University Press were looking to translate eight novels from US writer Andrea Barrett. Hearing about his studies in foreign languages, they sent Ship Fever to give him a tryout.

金曉宇出人意料的完成了工作，而在之前的這些年里，語言學(xué)習占據(jù)了他大部分的時間，在浙江圖書館，他“看完了圖書館里所有的外語小說。”
Language learning occupied most of Jin's life. He would often go to the Zhejiang provincial library to borrow foreign novels.
金曉宇由此開始他的翻譯人生。十年里，他以每年兩本書的速度，一共翻譯了22本書。其中10多本已經(jīng)出版。
In 2010, Jin Xiaoyu started translating foreign books. Over the past decade, he has translated 22 books from English, Japanese and German and read almost every foreign language novel in Zhejiang Library. More than 10 of his translations have been published.
在很多譯者看來，要涉及這么多門類需要做龐大的、專業(yè)的知識儲備，但金曉宇統(tǒng)統(tǒng)承接下來。無論是英譯還是日譯，他的作品都可以精準到“沒有一個錯字、錯句、錯譯”。這份不容易，他這樣解釋：“我很細心，一個注解都要從《大英百科全書》上摘下來，注解基本上不會有錯。如果說，我翻譯出了問題，自己砸自己飯碗了。”

“她走了，但我習慣天天為她做事”
近幾年，金曉宇的翻譯有了起色，但是母親曹美藻卻患上了阿爾茲海默癥，身體和精神每況愈下，生活不能自理。三年時間里，金曉宇在翻譯工作的同時，還要照料母親。金曉宇的情況一直也比較穩(wěn)定，直到去年11月，他再度發(fā)病入院治療。因此，他也錯過了跟自己母親見最后一面。
While Jin's career was taking off, things were not as optimistic when it came to his mother's health. Alzheimer's disease impaired her physical health as she began to forget everything and everyone around her. While struggling with his own demons due to his condition, Jin patiently took care of his mother for three years. While translation work and caring for his mother left Jin with barely any time to even think about his mental disorder, his condition did not let him off. In November 2021, Jin suffered an episode and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, causing him to miss his last chance to see his mother, who passed away on November 8, 2021.

報道刊登后，四面八方的人打電話給金性勇，希望可以提供幫助，有可以幫助翻修舊房的，有捐贈電腦的，還有介紹康復(fù)治療和長期財務(wù)捐贈的。金性勇感謝了大家的關(guān)心，但也婉拒了所有物質(zhì)幫助。故事見報，對老人來說更像是完成了一樁盤桓已久的心愿。
Jin Xingyong began to receive phone calls offering help after the story ran in the newspaper. According to Hangzhou Daily, readers have offered to renovate Jin's old home, buy Jin Xiaoyu a new computer, introduce well-known psychiatrists, and make long-term financial donations. He said the story's publication in the newspaper is the fulfillment of his "long-held" wish.
如今，金曉宇已經(jīng)出院回家，最新翻譯的作品也即將出版。
In an update after the Hangzhou Daily report went viral, Jin's father told the paper that Jin has returned home from the hospital and his latest translated book will be published soon.
