10月30日，印度古吉拉特邦發(fā)生拉索橋坍塌事故。當(dāng)?shù)孛襟w31日?qǐng)?bào)道稱，事故已導(dǎo)致至少141人死亡，另有177人獲救。

Local media reports said on Monday the death toll in a pedestrian bridge collapse in the western Indian state of Gujarat has risen to 141, while about 177 people have been rescued.

Footage of the pedestrian suspension bridge captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) ahead of its horrific collapse showed some young men had been deliberately shaking it. Another video shows youngsters kicking the cables with their feet and thumping the bridge with their feet to cause it to sway.

Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi told reporters that 132 people were confirmed dead and many were admitted to hospitals in critical condition. However, local media outlets put the death toll at 141 including 47 children.

The cause of the bridge collapse was not immediately known, but local authorities suggested overcrowding as the reason. Reports said around 500 people, much beyond its capacity, were on the bridge at the time.

It was not immediately clear how many people were on the bridge when it collapsed, but survivors said it was so densely packed that the crowd was unable to move to safety when the cable strings began to snap.

 

吊橋百年歷史，近期翻修開(kāi)放
 

據(jù)悉，倒塌的吊橋有著近150年歷史，是當(dāng)?shù)匾粋€(gè)受歡迎的旅游景點(diǎn)。此前，該橋關(guān)閉了七個(gè)月進(jìn)行翻修，于10月26日重新向公眾開(kāi)放。

The bridge is said to have been built in 1877. It is a popular tourist attraction in the area. It was shut for renovation for seven months and was thrown open for the public on Oct. 26.

 

印度警方10月31日表示，已有9人因古吉拉特邦拉索橋坍塌事故被捕。這其中包括橋梁承包公司的2名管理人員、2名承包商、2名售票員和3名涉嫌玩忽職守的保安。

Police in Gujarat said they had detained nine people after registering a criminal case. The nine include two managers, two ticket clerks, two contractors and three security guards.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was in his home state of Gujarat on a three-day visit, said he was "deeply saddened" by the tragedy.
