京都清水寺住持當(dāng)天在寺里揮毫寫下一個碩大的“密”字。主辦方表示,許多投票者選擇“密”這個字的最主要原因,是隨著新冠肺炎疫情擴(kuò)大,出現(xiàn)了“三密”這個詞,也就是指密閉環(huán)境、密集場所和密切接觸,這對人們的日常生活產(chǎn)生了很大影響。

The Japan Kanji Aptitude Testing Foundation on Monday unveiled the Kanji of the Year for 2020 – 密 (mitsu) at Kyoto's famed temple Kiyomizudera. Many voters said the character is widely used in the expression "three mitsus" – closed and crowded settings involving close contact that experts suggest to avoid during the COVID-19 pandemic.
還有一些投票者選擇“密”字的原因,也在于今年日本政界和娛樂圈很多不能說的秘“密”被曝光。但“密”字的含義不光都是貶義,也有“親密”之意,一些人認(rèn)為今年也讓他們與心愛之人變得更加親密。
Other voters chose the character, which also means secret, citing the fact that a slew of secrets in politics and the entertainment industry were exposed in 2020.
Not all reasons voters gave for choosing the kanji were negative, according to the association.
Some chose mitsu for another one of its meanings, "closeness," saying that the year has allowed them to form an intimate connection with their loved ones.
而在投票結(jié)果中排在第二位和第三位分別是“禍”字和“病”字,也就是說,與疫情相關(guān)的字包攬了前三位。
The runner-up was “ka,” which means epidemic, evil and misfortune, receiving 13,655 votes.
“Yamai,” meaning illness, came in third, with 10,369 votes.
去年日本年度漢字首位是“令”,指德仁天皇即位,年號令和,日本從此告別平成時代。
Last year, “rei” was selected after the new imperial era Reiwa commenced on May 1 following the ascension of Emperor Naruhito to the chrysanthemum throne. His father, Emperor Emeritus Akihito, had abdicated the previous day, the first Japanese monarch to do so in about 200 years.
日本年度漢字評選始于1995年。當(dāng)年因阪神大地震和東京地鐵沙林毒氣事件的影響,年度漢字為“震”。
The foundation began naming a kanji of the year in 1995. The first kanji was “shin” meaning “quake” or “shiver,” which reflected the fear people felt at the time following the Great Hanshin Earthquake and the sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway system.
