據(jù)報(bào)道，從17歲支邊云南從事林業(yè)工作，到創(chuàng)辦中國第一所公辦免費(fèi)女子高中，扎根貧困地區(qū)40余年的張桂梅一直盡心盡力，幫助1800多名貧困山區(qū)女孩圓夢大學(xué)。在年復(fù)一年的操勞中，她早已疾病纏身。

Although suffering more than a dozen illnesses including emphysema and benign tumors in her skull, Zhang Guimei, founder and principal of Huaping Girls' High School, has never stopped her quest to help girls from impoverished families in the southwestern province of Yunnan receive higher education.

She founded Huaping High School for Girls in 2008. Since the boarding school opened, around 2,000 girls from impoverished families in Yunnan's mountainous regions have been enrolled by universities after taking the national college entrance exam, successfully rewriting their fate.

1997年，張桂梅從云南大理，來到華坪縣民族中學(xué)工作。到華坪縣教書后，張桂梅發(fā)現(xiàn)一個(gè)現(xiàn)象：“很多女孩讀著讀著就不見了”。一打聽才知道，有的學(xué)生去打工了，有的小小年紀(jì)就嫁人了。

為此，張桂梅只好一個(gè)個(gè)地家訪，去做思想工作，甚至掏錢為女孩們的家庭解決問題。

2002年，張桂梅決心要成立一所公辦免費(fèi)女子高中，當(dāng)時(shí)許多人都覺得這是個(gè)瘋狂的想法。

6年后，理想終于照進(jìn)了現(xiàn)實(shí)。2008年9月，在各級(jí)黨委政府關(guān)心支持下，全國第一所公辦免費(fèi)女子高中——麗江華坪女子高級(jí)中學(xué)正式開學(xué)，首屆共招收100名女生。

學(xué)校雖然建成了，但管理上還是出現(xiàn)了很多問題。半年后，100名學(xué)生中有6人退學(xué)，17名老師中有9人辭職。

強(qiáng)烈的挫敗感，讓張桂梅心灰意冷。就在她準(zhǔn)備撂挑子的時(shí)候，卻發(fā)生了一件小事。

原來，張桂梅整理老師檔案時(shí)發(fā)現(xiàn)，留下的8位老師中，竟有6位都是黨員。張桂梅立刻來了精神：有這么多黨員，她不信學(xué)校辦不下去！

于是，她把這6位老師召集起來，帶他們?cè)趬ι袭嬃它h旗。大家對(duì)著黨旗重新宣誓，宣誓到一半時(shí)，每個(gè)人都哽咽落淚了。

However, opening the school was just the beginning of new challenges. Most of the first 100 students had a poor academic foundation and six of them decided to drop out of school. Moreover, nine of the school's 17 teachers resigned due to the harsh living and working conditions.

The teachers drew the Party flag and the Party oath on the wall. Before they could finish repeating their oath on joining the Party, the teachers all cried.

"With tears in our eyes and fists clenched, we vowed to spare no efforts to send the girls outside the mountains and help them go to universities," Zhang said.

在張桂梅和6位黨員的堅(jiān)守下，全國第一家全免費(fèi)的公辦女子高級(jí)中學(xué)就這樣籌建起來了。建校13年來，華坪女高一共送走1800多名畢業(yè)生，一本上線率從最初的4.26%升至超44.02%，綜合上線率一直保持100%。

張桂梅就像“峽谷里的燈盞”，照亮大山女孩的夢想，影響著越來越多的人。她卻淡然地說：“我就是個(gè)山村女教師，還是個(gè)老黨員，事情不是我一個(gè)人做的。”

而如今，這份愛還在一直傳遞下去。今年的華坪女高新生楊麗梅表示，她下決心要在高中三年里好好拼一下，學(xué)成后回報(bào)曾經(jīng)幫助過她的人。
