Tributes have poured in from across China mourning the passing of Stanley Ho Hung-sun.
全國各地都在向何鴻燊逝世致哀。

The entrepreneur, well-known for the wealth generated by his casinos, passed away on May 26. But Ho’s contribution to wider society and his ambitious ideas went far beyond the gambling table. He was also well-respected for his achievements in many areas, including being one of the first entrepreneurs to invest in the Chinese mainland when the nation started reform and opening-up in the 1970s.
這位以開設(shè)賭場發(fā)家致富的著名企業(yè)家于5月26日逝世。但何鴻燊對社會的貢獻及其雄心壯志早就超越了賭桌。他在眾多領(lǐng)域都有所成就，受人尊重，比如，他是上世紀70年代最早響應(yīng)國家改革開放、前來內(nèi)地投資的企業(yè)家之一。

He was also known for his generosity to charities and donating money to build schools.
他還以熱心慈善、捐款建校著稱。

“He taught us … to give back to society, to appreciate our heritage and, most of all, to be patriotic to our country,” read the statement on behalf of Ho’s family.
“他教導(dǎo)我們……取諸社會，用諸社會；他亦時刻耳提面命我們珍惜我們的文化傳統(tǒng)，愛我們的國家，”何氏家族的聲明中如此寫道。

In November 2019, Ho donated a red bronze horse head statue – a long-lost national cultural relic that he paid over 63 million yuan for at an auction –to the National Cultural Heritage Administration to mark the 20th anniversary of Macao’s return to China.
2019年11月，為紀念澳門回歸二十周年，何鴻燊向國家文物局捐贈了一尊圓明園馬首銅像，此前，何鴻燊在一場拍賣會上以6300萬人民幣購入這件流失多年的國家文物。

In 2007, to mark the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, Ho donated five priceless works of art to the National Museum.
2007年，為紀念香港回歸十周年，何鴻燊向國家博物館捐贈了5件珍貴藝術(shù)品。

Speaking at the donation ceremony, Ho said that he had witnessed the successful implementation of the “one country, two systems” in both the Hong Kong and Macao SARs, and as a Chinese citizen, he looked forward to the peaceful reunification of his country.
他在捐贈儀式上表示，自己親眼目睹了“一國兩制”在港澳的成功實踐。作為中國人，他期盼祖國盡快實現(xiàn)和平統(tǒng)一。

Macao Chief Executive Ho Iatseng also sent a letter of condolence to Ho’s family expressing his deepest regrets and commending Ho’s lifelong dedication to public welfare and his significant contribution to Macao’s prosperity and stability.
澳門特別行政區(qū)行政長官賀一誠也致唁函慰問何鴻燊親屬，謹表深切哀悼，他贊揚何鴻燊一生樂善好施，關(guān)心社會公益事業(yè)，為澳門繁榮穩(wěn)定做出了重要貢獻。

Ho held many titles in his lifetime, including member of the Standing Committee of the 9th, 10th and 11th National Committees of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. But he once said his favorite title is “patriotic entrepreneur”.
何鴻燊一生中擁有眾多頭銜榮譽，曾任第九屆至第十一屆全國政協(xié)常委。但他曾說，自己最喜歡的榮譽是“愛國企業(yè)家”。
