Xinhua News Agency introduced its first digital anchor in 2018. Developed by Xinhua and the search engine Sogou, this technology was developed through machine learning to simulate the voices, facial movements and gestures of real broadcasters. And now, Xinhua is expanding its lineup of virtual presenters. In May, Xinhua released the world’s first 3D artificial intelligence (AI) anchor, Xin Xiaowei.
新華社于2018年推出了首位虛擬主播。由新華社和搜索引擎搜狗共同研發(fā)的這一技術(shù)能夠通過(guò)機(jī)器學(xué)習(xí)，模擬真人主持人的聲音、面部表情以及姿勢(shì)。而如今，新華社的虛擬主播隊(duì)伍中又增添了新成員。今年5月，新華社推出了全球首位3D人工智能主播新小微。

According to Xinhua, the 3D anchor is modeled on Zhao Wanwei, a flesh-and-blood reporter for the news agency.
據(jù)新華社介紹，這位3D主播的原型是新華社真人記者趙琬微。

Her digital counterpart was brought to life by “multi-modal recognition and synthesis, facial recognition and animation and transfer learning”, according to Sogou.
搜狗表示，這位趙琬微的“數(shù)碼分身”是通過(guò)“多模態(tài)識(shí)別及生成、實(shí)時(shí)面部動(dòng)作生成及驅(qū)動(dòng)、遷移學(xué)習(xí)”等技術(shù)“熔爐”煉就而成。

Unlike previous virtual anchors, this newest addition “communicates visual and audio information more naturally and smoothly in real time”, Xinhua reported.
據(jù)新華社報(bào)道，和先前的虛擬主播不同，這位最新成員“在實(shí)時(shí)播報(bào)視聽(tīng)內(nèi)容時(shí)更加自然流暢”。

Just as Xin said on her release footage: “In the future, I will walk out of the studio and bring you a refreshing news broadcasting style ...”
正如新小微在亮相視頻中所說(shuō)的那樣：“未來(lái)，我將走出演播室，帶給您全新的新聞播報(bào)方式……”

During her first appearance at an animated broadcast studio, she also performed complex facial expressions, for example, nodding her head and blinking as she spoke.
在虛擬演播室首次亮相期間，她還展現(xiàn)了復(fù)雜的面部表情，如說(shuō)話時(shí)不時(shí)點(diǎn)頭或者眨眼。

More interestingly, Xin also can change her clothes and hairstyles based on different scenarios.

Though the new anchor already looks quite real, the agency said that the AI news anchor would be improved and updated in her expressions and movements. That will certainly create a new and dynamic viewing experience for their audience.
盡管這位新主播看起來(lái)已經(jīng)相當(dāng)逼真，但新華社表示，這位人工智能新聞主播還會(huì)升級(jí)改進(jìn)表情動(dòng)作。這無(wú)疑會(huì)為觀眾們帶來(lái)全新動(dòng)態(tài)的觀看體驗(yàn)。

The AI anchor recently reported on the two sessions, the annual plenary sessions of the National People’s Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
這位人工智能主播近期還對(duì)兩會(huì)（即全國(guó)人民代表大會(huì)和中國(guó)人民政治協(xié)商會(huì)議）進(jìn)行了報(bào)道。
