Imagine this: A student interrupts a teacher while the teacher is delivering a speech, brags (吹噓) about cheating to get higher scores, mocks others and runs away from the classroom when taking an exam.

Hard to believe? These things were all done by senior high school student Tu Jun (played by Peng Yuchang) in Run for Young. In this web series, Tu and his friends grow up together. They always think, act and talk in an unusual way, which embarrasses others.

Technically, it doesn’t refer to a mental illness diagnosed by medical experts. It was first used by Japanese radio host Hikaru Ijuin in a radio program in 1999. Chuunibyou strikes students mostly in their second year of junior high school, but it could refer to teenagers as a whole.
嚴(yán)格來(lái)說(shuō)，“中二病”并不是一種由醫(yī)學(xué)專家所診斷出的心理疾病。這一說(shuō)法由日本電臺(tái)主持人伊集院光在1999年的一檔電臺(tái)節(jié)目中首次提出。“中二病”反映了大多數(shù)初中二年級(jí)學(xué)生的狀態(tài)，但也可以指代全體青少年。

Chuunibyou teenagers usually have certain “symptoms”, such as believing that the whole world is wrong while only they are right. Wang Liren, a professor at Northeast Normal University, said that when students reach puberty, they become eager to show that they’re different and independent. Sometimes, they overdo it. That’s where chuunibyou comes from. Basically, it refers to adolescent egocentrism.
“中二病”的少年通常都有如下“癥狀”：認(rèn)為全世界都是錯(cuò)的，只有他們自己是對(duì)的。東北師范大學(xué)教授王立仁表示，當(dāng)學(xué)生們進(jìn)入青春期后，他們會(huì)迫切想要證明自己既與眾不同又獨(dú)立自主。有時(shí)他們做過(guò)了頭，這就是大家所說(shuō)的“中二病”?；旧?，“中二病”指的是青春期的自我中心主義。

In Run for Young, the main characters seem to be foolish. But actually, they just pretend to be ignorant about life as a way to protect their self-esteem. “The web series conveys how teenagers cope with different problems when they grow mature,” director Zhang Yibai told Shangyou News.
