In October 1971, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted Resolution 2758 at its 26th Session. The resolution was to restore all lawful rights to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in the UN.
1971年10月，第26屆聯(lián)合國(guó)大會(huì)通過(guò)第2758號(hào)決議，決定恢復(fù)中華人民共和國(guó)在聯(lián)合國(guó)的一切合法權(quán)利。

In fact, since the PRC was founded in 1949, the country had expressed its wish to be granted UN representation. After 22 years’ continuous efforts, the PRC was recognized as the only lawful representative of China to the UN.
事實(shí)上，中華人民共和國(guó)1949年成立以后，曾被擋在聯(lián)合國(guó)大門之外長(zhǎng)達(dá)22年。經(jīng)過(guò)22年的不懈斗爭(zhēng)，聯(lián)合國(guó)大會(huì)決議明確承認(rèn)中華人民共和國(guó)政府的代表是中國(guó)在聯(lián)合國(guó)的唯一合法代表。

It was a victory for the diplomacy of the PRC, a victory for justice and fairness in the world, and a victory for the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, noted Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
中華人民共和國(guó)國(guó)務(wù)委員兼外交部長(zhǎng)王毅表示，這是新中國(guó)外交的勝利，是世界公道正義的勝利，也是聯(lián)合國(guó)憲章宗旨和原則的勝利。

According to Zhang Guihong, director of Research Center for the United Nations and International Organizations at Fudan University, a place in the UN provided key opportunities for China to improve its relationship with other countries. China also joined UN agencies and participated in UN affairs through international cooperation. And as one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, it has been able to fulfill its responsibilities as a major country in international diplomacy.
復(fù)旦大學(xué)聯(lián)合國(guó)與國(guó)際組織研究中心主任張貴洪表示，中國(guó)恢復(fù)聯(lián)合國(guó)合法席位，為中國(guó)改善與其他國(guó)家的關(guān)系提供了至關(guān)重要的機(jī)會(huì)。中國(guó)還積極加入聯(lián)合國(guó)機(jī)構(gòu)，通過(guò)國(guó)際合作參與聯(lián)合國(guó)事務(wù)。作為聯(lián)合國(guó)安理會(huì)五大常任理事國(guó)之一，中國(guó)有能力在外交領(lǐng)域履行大國(guó)責(zé)任。

Since then, the country has made great contributions to global peace and sustainable development, said Andrey Denisov, the Russian ambassador to China.
俄羅斯駐華大使杰尼索夫表示，五十年前，聯(lián)大通過(guò)了恢復(fù)中華人民共和國(guó)在聯(lián)合國(guó)合法席位的決議。此后，中國(guó)為世界和平與可持續(xù)發(fā)展作出了巨大貢獻(xiàn)。

Among the permanent members of the UN Security Council, China is the largest contributor of peacekeepers and has participated in 29 UN peacekeeping operations and sent a total of over 50,000 peacekeepers, according to Wang Yi.
王毅表示，中國(guó)迄今積極參與了29項(xiàng)聯(lián)合國(guó)維和行動(dòng)，累計(jì)派出5萬(wàn)余人次，是安理會(huì)常任理事國(guó)中出兵最多的國(guó)家。

The country has also engaged in many development projects and aid programs in more than 160 developing countries.
中國(guó)還向160多個(gè)發(fā)展中國(guó)家提供發(fā)展援助，實(shí)施援助項(xiàng)目。

China has played an active role in addressing global challenges such as climate change, poverty and the COVID-19 pandemic. It has implemented the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement. The country is actively involved in global anti-pandemic efforts, providing Chinese vaccines and medical supplies to other countries and regions and international organizations.
中國(guó)在應(yīng)對(duì)氣候變化、貧困、新冠肺炎疫情等全球性挑戰(zhàn)方面發(fā)揮了積極作用。中國(guó)堅(jiān)定支持落實(shí)《聯(lián)合國(guó)氣候變化框架公約》和《巴黎協(xié)定》。中國(guó)積極參與全球抗疫進(jìn)程，向其他國(guó)家、地區(qū)以及國(guó)際組織提供疫苗和醫(yī)療物資。

When delivering a statement at the general debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Sept 21, President Xi Jinping announced that China would solemnly commemorate the 50th anniversary of the restoration of the lawful seat of the People’s Republic of China in the United Nations, which he said is a historic event.
國(guó)家主席習(xí)近平9月21日出席第七十六屆聯(lián)合國(guó)大會(huì)一般性辯論并發(fā)表重要講話表示，今年是中華人民共和國(guó)恢復(fù)在聯(lián)合國(guó)合法席位50周年，中國(guó)將隆重紀(jì)念這一歷史性事件。

“We will continue our active efforts to take China’s cooperation with the United Nations to a new level and make new and greater contributions to advancing the noble cause of the UN.”
習(xí)近平指出，中國(guó)將繼續(xù)積極推動(dòng)中國(guó)同聯(lián)合國(guó)合作邁向新臺(tái)階，為聯(lián)合國(guó)崇高事業(yè)不斷作出新的更大貢獻(xiàn)。
